OH HOW WE LOVE PRINTMAKING!

Back in April we we're getting the "let's make a print about print" bug that happens all the time.  I feel like every year we have to express our obsession with some kind of print that celebrates this crazy medium. This year we made two.

The PRNT MAKE knuckle tattoo design has been floating around in my head for a while so we finally went for it. We decided to print the larger navy hands with turquoise letters on a 5x7 paper and make a smaller version on a card.

Can't tell from the photo, but there was some shine on those knuckles!

When you have metallic gold ink you have to play. So the smaller fists are bright gold on cotton Lettra Cards.

Up next was a special project. Many years ago, when I was at Rhode Island College trucking along through the BFA program, the printmaking professor had this wonderful line, "painting is just drawing with mayonnaise"! The professor, Stephen Fisher, is a hyper-detailed photo-realistic intaglio guy, so the quote was always a laugh at crits and gallery openings.

This year I was invited to go back to RIC and participate in the summer advanced class print exchange. I printed a small edition of the SHAKARA elephant engraving on Kitakata paper and then for fun I made these!

These are on 5x7 inch sheets of super thick Cranes Lettra paper.

They each printed great with a very deep impression.

They were a surprise hit at the exchange and got a huge laugh out of Stephen, who has become a good friend since graduating.

We have all of this printmaking awesomeness available in our ETSY shop!
